How old are you, Mommy?

Today's Braeden-ism:

Brady: Mommy, how old you is?
Me: Excuse me?
Brady: I am 3, how how is you?
Me: (Now laughing) You really want to ask a lady how old she is?
Brady: Tell me!
Me: I am 34. Happy?
Brady: Whoah! And I am only 3. That's a lot.

**Thanks, hun. You really made Mommy's day. =(**

No Pictures!

Add caption
Not sure what his issue was. He likes to prop himself up like this and then yells for me to come save him before he sinks to the floor. At this particular moment, he has decided to yell, "No Mommy! Don't take pictures of me while I am a bridge!"

Today's item of destruction....

Today's item of destruction:

A small tap light put next to his bed on the wall.

Brady's weapon of choice: His own hands!
What room: His bedroom.
When I asked him what happened: "The battery fell down in the hole!" (The floor register vent)

No idea how that made the light fall apart.

Oh, the things he breaks!

I am putting a new element into this blog to make it more interesting. Since my child insists on breaking something at least 2-3 times a day, I can't wait to show him this blog when he gets older to show him how destructive little boys are.

Today's item of destruction:
I went back in time to December 9, 2010. I had to do some digging to find this pic. To date, this is the most expensive thing he has destroyed.
This is what it looked like when it  was off.
This is what it looked like when it was on.

It was Brady, in the living room, and the weapon was a sippy cup that managed to fly through the air and take a direct hit on the large flat screen TV. I am sure Chad was not too mad. This TV had a purple pixel that was damaged on the right side of the screen anyway. Just an excuse for him to have the new (and bigger) TV he has today.

I grow up last night!

Brady cracks me up most of the time.

"Mommy, I am not a baby! I grow up last night!"

"Do you like Bumblebee cars, Mommy?"  (Referring to the Transformers Bumblebee.)

"What kind of car is that? What's that one? What's the logo on that one?" (This is to and from everywhere we drive. Constantly.)

"I can't button this up. I am too little. I didn't grow up last night."

"Mommy, is it Saturday time yet?"

Don't want to give them all away right off the bat. I wish all of my conversations with adults were this simple.

Back to blogging!

As most of you know, I haven't posted on here in awhile. Duh, my last entry was from back in March! Anyway...my husband and I have started the divorce process for reasons I will not make public. That's not my style. With that said, I have changed the format of my blogging, since this used to be a blog for our family events. I thought, what better place could I document the funny things coming out of my 3 year old's mouth. With him growing as well, it's a spot I can still post pictures of him doing his thing. The posts might be scattered, random thoughts. But, it's an experiment to see if I can get back to feeling like a regular Mommy and continue to show off my little monkey when I can. These days are going too fast. He's getting bigger and more funny, every day. Sorry if this blog isn't more interesting than it was. But, thanks for visiting!

Flower Basket Planting Time!

Every year at this time, we make our way down to Pahl's Market in Apple Valley with Chad's parents. They have a great deal where you get baskets and then go around the green house to pick out so many plants per basket.
The order to pick is:
  • Thriller ~ The very middle plant. It is supposed to be spiky or just plain bigger than the rest.
  • Filler ~ These are the flowers that have color. The more vibrant for me, the better!
  • Spiller ~ This is something vine-like or crawling that spills out over the side.
Yes, we usually buckle at the knees when it comes to our favorite sports team, the Vikings. So, we end up with purple and yellow flowers every year. This year we went a tad different on one basket. I am really excited for Mother's Day. It is usually about the time we get the call to come down and pick up the baskets that have by then become beautiful, big baskets of colors.
Braeden will NOT pass up popcorn...ever!
Not sure where I was the night before. But, I was lookin tired!
Braeden walking around to help grandpa and grandma pick out flowers.
Healthy morning snack of M&M's.

Grandpa always looks happy to be here!

Redecorating the Boy's Room...Once Again!

Yes, I understand my child is 2 years old and has been through many different bedroom decor. As a matter of fact, more than mommy and daddy's room! He started out with his green and blue turtle theme as a baby. Then when we moved into our new house, we converted his crib into a toddler bed. The new theme was cars and trucks. He was totally in live with that. Actually, when we asked him what new bedroom theme he wanted this time, he replied, "CARS!". But...I am a mean mommy that likes change and decorating. When we went to Ikea to find ourselves something new for both rooms, we fell in love with the idea of a forest type of theme. After searching all over the internet for ideas to go with his new bedding, I ran across this adorable monkey sticker for his wall. I must say, it suits him well. As soon as he saw me putting the monkeys on the wall, he started making monkey sounds that I had no idea he even knew! Now, I must find more monkey things to make it feel more complete. Yes, I am addicted to decorating. I will admit that much.

Daddy is a Shark, Mommy!

I can't believe how huge Brady's imagination has grown!

For Christmas, Grandma Johnson bought swimming lessons for him. We go to the next town over to a hotel with a swimming pool and watch him get super excited to get in the pool. Granted, his first day wasn't as great. He screamed at Daddy to not make him go in the water. Only for Daddy to find himself fighting Brady to get out of the water. It's become Brady's new passion in life. He brings it up at LEAST every other day. It's funny. Because he will actually say, "I go swimmin' on Tuesday!". I think it's hilarious he mocks us so detailed like that. He loves splashing and kicking in the water. But, I think his favorite thing is to blow bubbles at the surface. Last week, when lessons were over, Chad handed me Brady from the pool while he got out on the other end. As I was holding Brady all bundled up in his towel, he yelled, "(*GASP*) Look Mommy! Daddy is a shark!". Every woman standing next to me stopped bundling their little ones to giggle at him. He has quite the imagination!
Getting ready to go swimmin!

Warming up by splashing Daddy with his feet.

The "Class".
"Everyone kick as fast as you can!" (Brady has this one down!)

He must always have a boat in hand to stay in the pool.

Blowing bubbles. He has also brought this home and now blows bubbles in everything!

Practicing jumping off the side to Daddy.

Bonzai!

He finishes every night with a sundae from McD's as his prize for being a good boy. Too bad it makes a disaster out of him every time!

Sledding Fun.

Well, I've lost my patience with Facebook and it's photo uploading process. So, looks like I will be blogging a bit more!

Yesterday was Sunday and we had a fresh coat of snow that was added to the already towering snow banks. We decided to do some family sledding in our back yard. We had to get in some new pics of us, since I had gone a couple of months without a camera.

No More Fire!

My Dad popped in town for an early birthday dinner with Chad, Brady, and I. If you don't already know, Chad and I have birthdays 3 days apart (myself- Jan 26, Chad- Jan 29). A new Japanese Hibachi/Sushi restaurant opened in Lakeville recently. So, we decided to go check it out. Brady has been to a Hibachi style restaurant before. But, that was before he could even talk. This kid cracks me up. He kept yelling at the Hibachi chef, "Stop the fire! It's hot! No more fire!" I think everyone sitting at our table was more entertained by his play-by-play commentary of the cooking, rather than the show of tricks the chef was trying to display for everyone.

Oh, what we do to keep a 2 year old entertained! Watching Scooby Doo on Daddy's phone.

My Little Artist!

We finally decided to let Brady dive into his Cat In The Hat painting book. I was scared of the mess it might create. But, soon got over that fear. I know there will be bigger messes than this one day. I will just have to grin and bear it!

The only problem is tearing the book away from him when it's time to clean up. This kid is in love with painting and has a fit when I tell him it's time to stop. He's my little artist.

New Year's Eve!

We finally had a pretty decent New Year's Eve party. Lots of people and food. It was a great night!

We started to prep for the arrival of hungry and thirsty guests.

<-----(Not yet cooked) bacon wrapped water chestnuts.

Carousel of liquor!

Decorations...simple, but pretty!

Michelle arrived early too help start the festivities.

Jen, looking dazzling!

The girls started out playing poker.

Jen, striking a pose.

The boys played lots of darts.

Apple pie jello shots and berry blue jello shots. YUM!

We filled the nights with what we knew wasn't good singing. ;p

After midnight, the place was a total disaster!

I bought 4 cans of silly string. I had NO idea it would make such a huge mess that would be hard to clean up the next day!

Everyone got their fair share of silly string spraying.

My favorite neighbors stopped by!

I have no idea what they were doing here...

The aftermath....well, part of it anyway!

I cannot tell you how many different liquids and liquors I had to scrub off this bar the next day.

   HAPPY 2011 TO ALL!!
